Prettiest new wall color!

Its been years since I have changed the wall color in my living room, which
means that it was a great color.  I never got sick of it but I started thinking that maybe
all my blues and greens would look better with a bluey greeny wall and that all of the white
would pop out more. Between the trim, the fireplace and the piano there is a lot of white.
So as I often do, I pondered this change for a brief period of time and then decided to
just go for it.  Some of the blues that I love and considered were
Palladium Blue and Glass Slipper, by Benjamin Moore.  After having a convo with
artist and friend Cindy Austin, she suggested Woodlawn Blue, a color I had forgotten all about!
And that is the color I went with...its more blue than green.  When you put green next to it
it looks very blue, but when you put blue next to it you can see the green.
Haha, I hope that is not too confusing.
The piano got turned, with the help of Mr. Maison Decor,
which opened the way to fit in my french provincial chair.
But the color is all wrong. But that won't stop me....
This is the toile I will be using to reupholster/slipcover my pink french chair
that was shown above.  I have yet to upholster anything, so this will be my debut.
I adore this linen toile, the colorway will be perfect and the style is very Frenchy!
You can also see the difference in wall color....and if I do tire of it, I can just repaint.
It just feels fresh and different to switch things up, you know?
Here is my awesome buddy Colby, he follows me around. When I first started painting I
knocked over the whole gallon with the lid on it. OMG. I really did!! It kind of pried open and then started pouring all over the wood floor. Colby wanted to lick it up! I had to try and run to get a dust pan and spatula and save the paint!  I was yelling at Colby while I retrieved the said items in the kitchen and I have to say he respected my orders and stood still until I came back.  I painted the room in one day. Up and down the ladder and squats galore.  Oh. My. Aching legs and butt. It took me about 6 hours to do it...there was a lot of cutting in.  Anyway I am very pleased with how it came out.  I changed up the artwork and mirror placement and rehung my white Pottery Barn smocked curtains.
This paint, AURA, by Ben Moore had no smell and it went on like a dream!
I am not being compensated to say this either...this is not a sponsored post, but it
has me thinking I should contact them and see if they want me to blog more about
their paint, as I LOVE painting!! Woodlawn Blue is in their historical colorway
and you just can't go wrong choosing one of those colors.
I have some super exciting news to share.  Matthew Mead and I will be
starting our own decorating YouTube channel!!! We are going to start shooting
tomorrow!! And I just found out that my home is going to be in another
magazine, by an editor I truly adore!! So its going to be a very fun winter and
springtime. One more good reason to try a new wall color.
Oh! And one  more exciting thing:
Maison Decor is back for the month of February in Boston!!
I am doing a POP UP SHOP in my son's shop at Pioneer Goods Co
at 764 Tremont Street Boston.  He is open Wednesday - Sunday.
I will dedicate a full blog post to my POP UP and show you
just what kind of things I am selling....
if you love Vintage French and Gilded and Pink, you won't
want to miss it!!

  1. Amy, it is delightful! That toile is going to be to die for with it all too. Woodlawn blue seems like such a clean happy color, and calming at the same time, and really shows off your whites. My eyes just want to keep looking at it.

  6. Good luck with the upholstery. The color is gorgeous. So happy to hear of the u-tube videos and new magazine shoot. Love all you do. Matthew Meade is also a favorite. I do think those that spend time in a gym would be better off working to make their homes live able and love able. They would find all the exercise they need.

  10. I love this post! I cringed at the story of the spilled paint. I found a place that carries Benjamin Moore paint not too far from me ( about 20 miles) and my daughter is picking me up a sample tomorrow. If it looks even half as good in my house as in yours I am planning to do that color too!

  14. I've just found your blog through Pinterest, and it's just beautiful. I love your style. The new paint you used is a beautiful blue! It inspires me to put some fresh paint on the walls, only I don't like painting as much as you seem to! Cheers!

  15. Is this the color on your walls in the Romantic Country magazine this month? It seems more aqua in the magazine.

    1. Yes Kim, it is. The magazine photos are a bit intensified, and if you like what you see in the magazine, I am sure you can try to get a similar color. However you question inspired my latest blog post, which you may find interesting: http://maisondecor8.blogspot.com/2017/01/how-to-pick-paint-colors-magazines-vs.html

  16. HI Amy you chose well... Your colour change is a beautiful welcoming choice.
Change is always good....I think that is why I always stay with white, it disappears and know one ever notices the walls just it surroundings and it takes the work out of thinking about a new wall colour and now I just think of accessories to give it a lift.
Love the textile choice in keeping it French and it's all going to be oh so beautifully dreamy.
Looking forward to your new you tube and the journey you are on.

    Xx
